Jaw surgery (orthognathic surgery)
Orthognathic surgery involves correcting jaws that do not meet properly or teeth that are misaligned. In most cases, teeth are straightened or aligned properly through orthodontics before orthognathic surgery can be performed to reposition the misaligned jaws. This not only improves facial appearance but also ensures that teeth meet and function properly. Orthognathic surgery repositions teeth and facial bones to create a properly functioning jaw and provide a more balanced appearance. Advanced technologies, including X-rays and computer imaging, allow the patient to see the projected results even before surgery is performed.
Filler injections can also be used either alone or in combination with surgery.
Chin augmentation
Although many people don't notice it, having a small chin can significantly affect facial appearance by making your nose appear larger and your neck appear more sagging. Chin augmentation is often performed to create a more harmonious appearance and to create a more pronounced chin, either wider or longer depending on each patient's personal goals. Also known as mentoplasty, chin augmentation is often performed in conjunction with rhinoplasty or other facial procedures to enhance the beauty of the final result.
During the procedure, an implant made of silicone, or another soft, flexible material, is inserted through a small incision under the chin. The implant can be placed in a pocket or anchored to the bone with screws for long-lasting results. This procedure usually takes 30 minutes, and patients can usually return to work and resume their regular activities the following day. Chin augmentation is a safe procedure with few risks, which can be further reduced by choosing an experienced surgeon to perform your procedure.
Cheek augmentation
Cheek augmentation is a cosmetic surgery that reshapes the patient's facial topography. This procedure is usually combined with similar cosmetic surgeries, such as a facelift or chin augmentation, as implants can be inserted through the incisions for these surgeries. This can be an elective surgery, a solution to a deformity, or an accident that has disfigured the face.
Typically, incisions are made inside the upper area of the mouth at the gum line. Then, hardened silicone or polyethylene implants are inserted and slid into position. These are normally shaped to rest directly on the bone, so the surgeon does not need to secure the implants with stitches or staples. The incision can also be made under the eye, which reduces the risk of infection. Most patients opt for the intraoral approach since it leaves no visible scar.
Filler injections can also be used either alone or in combination with surgery.
Non-surgical facial rejuvenation
Over time, our skin changes due to aging, the harmful effects of the sun, and several other factors, causing wrinkles, pigmentation, and scars to develop on our faces. Many patients who are unhappy with these changes seek cosmetic treatments to restore their appearance and maintain a beautiful, more youthful-looking face.
These non-surgical treatments safely and effectively improve the appearance of the skin, allowing patients to look and feel like themselves. There are various treatments available to help correct or improve these facial changes and allow patients to restore a refreshed, more youthful appearance that reflects how they feel about themselves. Many patients choose to pair one or more rejuvenation options or combine their treatment with a plastic surgery procedure such as a facelift or brow lift to maximize results.
Dermal Fillers We Offer
Intradermal injections of hyaluronic acid (a natural substance found in all living organisms) can smooth expression lines, wrinkles, dermal irregularities, as well as scars and skin depressions. Dr. Borsuk uses different brands of products available on the market (Restylane MD , Teosyal MD , Belotero MD , Juvéderm MD , Revanesse MD) , choosing the different products to best treat different areas of the face. The most commonly treated areas are the lines around the nose and mouth, the lips, as well as the cheeks and chin to redensify and redefine. Dr. Borsuk can also use fillers to perform non-surgical rhinoplasty to correct slight bumps on the nose. Results usually last from 6 to 18 months, depending on each individual and the type of filler used. The treatment can be repeated to maintain the desired results.
Injection of neuromodulators (Botox®)
Botulinum toxin type A is a neuromodulator found in products such as Botox Cosmetic®, Dysport, and Xeomin. Neuromodulators are used to reduce the signs of aging. Botox Cosmetic® is particularly used in dermatology to rejuvenate the skin and reduce the appearance of expression lines. The most popular areas treated are the glabellar folds (frown lines), crow's feet, lines above the lips (smoker's lines), and horizontal lines on the forehead. Botox Cosmetic® can also be used to diminish wrinkles on the neck and nose, as well as along the jawline to define and reshape the jawline. The number of units used can determine a more subtle or more noticeable result, depending on the desired outcome. Dr. Borsuk always favors subtle, natural-looking results to give patients a rested, relaxed appearance without the frozen look. The treatments are equally popular with both men and women because they require very little healing time. Results and areas treated vary from patient to patient, but a period of 4 to 6 months is generally the time required before repeating the treatment.
Laser skin rejuvenation
Laser skin rejuvenation may involve using ablative laser resurfacing to reduce the signs of aging and improve the overall appearance of the skin. Laser treatments stimulate collagen production for improved aesthetic results. Patients often require multiple sessions to achieve the desired results, but this treatment can remove age spots and other unwanted marks on the skin. This is safer and less invasive than traditional resurfacing procedures.
